Healthy food doesn’t need to be boring at all. This creamy and refreshing sandwich is made of all the natural ingredients. There is NO MAYONNAISE in it. Instead, it gets its creaminess from the soft and buttery ripe avocados. And that extra Oomphhh is from the delicious homemade hummus.

It is such a simple, easy, and quick sandwich recipe that you would want to have it every day – for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The perfect recipe for a busy day – clean and green. & Trust me, after trying this recipe, you will never buy any sandwich spread or mayonnaise from the market. Guaranteed!

Story Time

We both love sandwiches a lot. Both of us can literally have them every single day. We tried many different kinds of sandwiches and the hummus sandwich is one of them. I tried my own recipe for a hummus sandwich earlier but this one is a bomb. It is not my recipe. I had something similar in a cafe in Switzerland. It was a snowy morning and we were craving for a sandwich and a hot cup of coffee. We went to a cafe close to our hotel and this hummus avocado bagel sandwich tempted me. And it was vegan too, so I had to try it. Before that, I never had bagels in my life. Jatin did not order this sandwich as it didn’t tempt him much.

So, our order arrived and when I had the first bite, I loved it. It was a simple sandwich but the creaminess of avocados and the nuttiness of hummus complemented each other really well. I finished it and was craving more. But it was quite expensive for a small sandwich. So, I decided to make it at home and satisfy my cravings. And guess what, when I made these sandwiches for the first time at home, Jatin too loved them a lot. He had three sandwiches. Then he understood why I was craving for them since we were back from Switzerland. So, you also give it a try and be amazed by the flavors.

Is this recipe vegan?

Yes. Of course. All the ingredients used in this recipe are vegan and plant-based.

Can we use store-bought hummus for this recipe?

Yes. Why not? With the store-bought hummus, you can make this anytime you want and that too in just 5 minutes.

But I prefer to make hummus at home. It is quite easy and simple to make. I make it over the weekend and store it in the refrigerator. And then I am all set for the week. Moreover, homemade ones always ensure the best quality ingredients.

  1. Slice bagels and toast them lightly. 
  2. Spread a generous amount of hummus on the bottom half of the bagel. 
  3. Place lettuce leaves, avocado slices (around 1/2 avocado per sandwich), tomato, and cucumber slices as needed.
  4. Garnish with sesame seeds and cover the bagel with the top half. 
  5. Add salt and pepper, if needed.
